The Challenge
Phone Calls and WhatsApp Managing an Entire Jewellery Business
VK Jewells, a jewellery retailer based in Gujarat, was running its customer-facing operations entirely through phone calls and WhatsApp. When a customer wanted to browse available pieces, a salesperson would send product photos manually over WhatsApp. Orders were taken verbally or via message threads. There was no catalogue customers could browse independently, no structured order record, and no digital payment flow.
Gold and silver price fluctuations created a specific operational headache. Jewellery prices change daily with commodity markets. Keeping customers accurately informed of the current price of any given piece required manual recalculation — a time-consuming process prone to error and inconsistency. When a customer asked "what does this necklace cost today?" the answer required cross-referencing the day's metal rate before quoting.
The business had no wishlist functionality for customers to save items they were considering, no cart to stage multiple items before purchase, and no way to manage custom design orders in a structured way. Every process was manual, every record was informal, and every sale depended on a salesperson being available to handle it.
The Solution
A Full Jewellery Commerce App with Live Pricing, Wishlist, Cart & Custom Order Management
Akshara Technologies built VK Jewells as a Flutter app published on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The centrepiece is a live gold and silver pricing integration: the app pulls real-time commodity prices via a market API and automatically recalculates the displayed price of every jewellery piece based on current metal rates — no manual intervention required.
Customers browse a fully categorised jewellery catalogue with high-resolution product imagery, metal type, weight, making charge, and dynamic price displayed per item. The wishlist lets customers save items across sessions without committing to purchase. The cart handles multi-item checkout with a clean order summary, and Razorpay integration handles payment — UPI, cards, net banking, and wallets all supported.
Custom order management gives customers a structured way to submit bespoke design requests with specifications, reference images, and budget parameters. These submissions feed directly into an admin-side order management view. Firebase Firestore keeps product catalogue, order states, and user data in sync in real time across the app.
